Porting Your Number

What Is Number Porting?

Number porting is the process of moving your existing phone number from one service provider to another. This can be an essential step for businesses looking to maintain continuity and recognition with their customers. Whether you're porting your number into PATLive or out to another service, this guide will walk you through the necessary steps.

NOTE: Not every PATLive customer will choose to port their business number to PATLive. Some will choose to simply forward their telephone number to a dedicated PATLive phone number for overflow calls, after hours, or on demand.

Why Port Your Number?

Porting your number allows you to:

  • • Maintain your current business contact information.
  • • Ensure continuity for your customers, preventing any loss of contact.
  • • Avoid the need to update marketing materials with a new phone number.
  • • Simplify the transition between service providers.

How To Port Your Number Into PATLive

  1. Gather the necessary information
  • Account Name: This can be either the person's name or the business name associated with the current phone number.
  • Authorized Contact/Signature: The person authorized to make changes to the account.
  • Billing Telephone Number (BTN): Usually, this is the same number being ported.
  • Account Number: Your current service provider's account number.
  • PIN/Passcode: If applicable, the security code used to access your account.
  • Service Address: Typically, this is the address associated with the number/person porting. In some cases, like with Twilio, it might be the current carrier's address. Customers can consult with PATLive for assistance if there are any questions.

  • For toll-free numbers, a PIN or passcode is not required.
  • You will need to fill out a toll-free porting form. PATLive’s customer service is happy to provide this form upon request, or you can DOWNLOAD IT HERE. We'll be happy to help you with the form’s completion if you have any questions.
